Scolopendra Cingulata – Kuoltuu Kaikin Kohetah Review

First of all, apologizes for such an elongated silence.  I have been preoccupied with a lot of things over the past few months.

Anyways I am not going to go in details.

So today, I have in store for you “Kuoltuu Kaikin Kohetah”, which is an EP released by Scolopendra Cingulata back in 2015. Prior to this the band has done 2 demos and a split. The band belongs to Kazakhstan. Can you imagine! Let me surprise you a bit more, it is a black metal band. WICKED!! Its artwork is most disturbing, which is a good thing as it would definitely work in favor of the band. Artwork plays an important role. I sometimes buy an album because I am fascinated by the brutality of the artwork. Just an opinion when it comes to underground bands.

I don’t know what it is, but it is intoxicating. It is a 4 song EP and stretches up to 27 minutes.  The first track is the longest of all. Track starts with very heavy and dark riffing which fades after a minute or so giving rise to the high pitched riffing (like an electric bolt) along with thundering drumming and typical black metal style vocals. Then comes a moment when it is nothing more than a melancholy which seems like forever, but then comes the twist; the tempo picks up falling back to signature early black metal instrumentation.

Tracks are nothing less than majestic (off-course in darker sense) & raw sounding giving the chills.

The music is not at all monotonous. Time signatures keep on changing keeping your interest alive. Cymbal work is really holding the tracks giving the listener another reason to stick to the music and off course the vocals are truly satanic & full of sinister energies with riffs being dipped deep into realms of unholy metal. It is really interesting to note that the band has traversed the diabolic world of black metal to create a shockwave.

Don’t expect main stream black metal from this band. The band is holding the early black metal wave roots steady. This is more of a black metal which is ripping the underground metal scene into pieces. It is that sort of music which slowly and gradually makes to addicted to it. You might not be able to hit the right track in the first spin but trust me the more you repeat it the more it gets to you.
